Bio
From the heart of the Midwest, The Blackbird Revue's delicately driving indie-rock sound is garnering national attention. Featured on NBC's The Voice, The Discovery Channel, and boasting one of Kansas City's top ten albums of 2013, this husband and wife duo has created a sound that is achingly beautiful, hauntingly memorable and passionately performed. Many are taking notice. They were selected as a national finalist for the Bud Light Battle of the Bands, invited to participate in the Chevy Music Showcase for Kansas City, and named 2015's "Best Americana Band" by the Midwest Music Awards. While sharing the stage with such artists as Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, Gregory Alan Isakov, Over the Rhine, and Hey Marseilles, The Blackbird Revue has performed at numerous venues across the country, including the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, TX, The Folk Alliance International Conference, and Kansas City's Middle of the Map Fest. What others are saying: "Listening to Danielle and Jacob work together, harmonize together, and just be together, you realize that they have … something … indefinable, yet unmistakable. This isn’t just a musical duo, and this isn’t just a married couple. This is a union of two spirits and souls that complement each other perfectly as no other could. The underlying intensity and obvious passion shine brightly." - The Deli Magazine "Their sound is lovely, all melodic and well-crafted, midtempo and melancholic. And their harmonies can be deadly." - Ink Magazine "Weaving the intimate presence and sweetly weathered vocal blend of The Civil Wars together with a penchant for creating delicately driving indie-rock textures, Kansas City outfit The Blackbird Revue really has achieved something special in a short amount of time. Fronted by husband-wife duo Jacob and Danielle Prestidge, the group has crafted a sound that manages to be ethereal and earthy all at once, swirling and magnetic yet immediate and relevant. Catch the group in a snug setting while you still can." - The Columbia Tribune |
