Krista Haugland Biography
Born and raised in Lansing, Iowa, Krista Haugland began playing piano at the age of 4 by studying the Yamaha Method. By age 9, she focused her training on classical music, and was later awarded a full music scholarship at Luther College, in Decorah, Iowa. After studying for 2 years at Luther, a fall on the ice brought her studies to an abrupt halt. After more than a year away from music classes, she met Dr. Doug Larche, Chair of the Theatre Department at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. He was writing a musical theatre piece called “Angels In The Snow”, a love story surrounding the rise and fall of the Berlin wall, and brought Krista on board. She created the piano arrangements, and through an internship at Great Plains Recording, assisted in arranging and orchestrating, as well as recording all of the original music for this production, and participated in a performance of highlights from it for a select committee of the United Nations. During her internship at Great Plains Recording, Krista met many local musicians whom she continues to record and perform with, in addition to her work as a solo artist. |
